Ethics Policy
PEER REVIEW, PUBLICATION ETHICS AND MALPRACTICE STATEMENT
Journal of Marine Technology and Environment is an independent publication regarding scientific research, and the Editor decides its publication policy. The statement signifies the ethical behavior of the publisher, the editor, the reviewers and the authors. The ethics statement for JMTE is based on new Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors for COPE Members (https://publicationethics.org/membership/code-of-conduct):
- Editors must ensure that peer review is a fair, unbiased, and timely process, with a system in place to protect the confidentiality of all submitted materials.
- Editors are responsible for all content in their journals and should act independently, avoiding pressure from publishers or other parties.
- Editors should refrain from considering manuscripts for which they have a conflict of interest due to any relationship with the authors or institutions involved.
- Editors must take steps to ensure the quality of published material, such as systems to detect data falsification and encouraging the use of appropriate reporting guidelines.
- Editors are responsible for correcting significant errors, inaccurate statements, or misleading information in published articles promptly.
PLAGIARISM AND ETHICAL MISCONDUCT
Journal of Marine Technology and Environment uses plagiarism screening service to verify the originality of content submitted before publication.
Submitted manuscripts are subjected to automatic software evaluation for plagiarism and duplicate publication.
It is essential that authors avoid all forms of plagiarism and ethical misconduct, as represented below:
Plagiarism: To republish whole or part of a content in another author’s publication without attribution.
Fabrication: To publish data and findings/results that do not exist.
Duplication: Using data from another publication; this includes republishing an article in different languages.
Salamisation: Creating multiple publications by abnormally splitting the results of a study.
Data Manipulation/Falsification: Manipulating or deliberately distorting research data to give a false impression.
PUBLICATION ETHICS
- Duties of the Editor
The Editor, together with the Editors, will take all appropriate measures to modify the article in question, in close cooperation with the editors, in cases of alleged or proven scientific misconduct, fraudulent publication or plagiarism (publication of an errata, disclosure/retraction of the affected work). Journal of Marine Technology and Environment is committed to ensuring the autonomy of editorial decisions without influence from anyone or commercial partners. Also, Journal of Marine Technology and Environment protects the property and copyright of the articles published in the journal and maintains each article’s published version of the record. Each author must send CTRF format. The JMTE Editor always takes all measures in what is in the public area fraudulent or plagiarism.

Duties of Editors
The Editor of Journal of Marine Technology and Environment keeps under control everything in the journal and strives to meet the needs of readers and authors. The Editors is also responsible for deciding which articles submitted to the journal should be published and may be guided by the policies subjected to legal requirements regarding libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. The Editor might discuss with reviewers while making publication decisions. The Editor is responsible for the contents and overall quality of the publication. Editor ought to provide a fair and appropriate peer-review process. The Editor must not disclose any information about a submitted article to anyone other than editorial staff, reviewers, and publisher. The Editor does not allow any conflicts of interest between the parties such as authors, reviewers and editors. Unpublished materials in a submitted article must not be used by anyone without the express written assent of the author. Authors are obliged to notify the journal’s editors or publisher immediately and to cooperate with them to correct or retract the article if significant errors or inaccuracies are detected in the published work.

Duties of Reviewers
Reviewers evaluate manuscripts without origin, gender, sexual orientation or political philosophy of the authors. Reviewers also ensure a fair blind peer review of the submitted manuscripts for evaluation. All the information relative to submitted articles is kept confidential. The reviewers must not be discussed with others except if authorized by the Editor. The reviewers have no conflict of interest regarding parties. Reviewers help the Editor in making decisions and may also assist the author in improving the manuscript. Reviewers also call to the Editor’s attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript and any other published paper of which they have personal knowledge.
If the decisions of the two Reviewers are not the same the paper is sent by Editors to a third reviewer. The authors have to adjust their papers according to the scientific reviewer demands within 10 days from notice. The final camera-ready format as requested by the editors has to be transmitted by authors within 30 days from acceptance. The date of publishing will be communicated to author(s) together with fee conditions.

Duties of Authors
The authors ensure that the manuscript has never been published previously in any journal. The words and sentences getting from the literature should be appropriately cited. Authors should not submit the same study for publishing in any other journals. All the sources that supported the development of the study must be mentioned. Authorship of a paper ought to be limited to those who have made a noteworthy contribution to the study. Authorship also includes a corresponding author who is in communication with the Editor. All sources of financial support should be disclosed. If there is a conflict of interest between the authors, this should be mentioned in the study. If objections arise, they are handled according to COPE rules by the journal’s Editorial Board and must be based only on the scientific content of the study. The final decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief.
