Abstract
The purpose of the present paper is to be a tutorial one, intended to show the model of coupled torsional and longitudinal vibration of the marine engine shafting systems. Extension of the analytic method for a multi-dimensional system, modeling of typical marine propulsion plant, and results for some realistic examples are also presented and they show that neglecting the propeller coupling effect can result unprediction of vibratory response.
